About the blog

The New England Comics/Collectibles Stores Museum chronicles the hobby shops located within the New England states (primarily Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire) through various forms of media. Google maps, photo essays, podcasts, videos, and Delicious stacks will be used to tell the stories behind the comics and collectibles stores. An example of each media will be used for at least one store, so as to vary up the  kinds of media represented on this blog. Each project is tagged with its respective media and store so readers can find them easily.

Harrison's Comics & Collectibles Photo Essay

Harrison's Comics and Collectibles, located in downtown Salem, Massachusetts, is a living time capsule of pop culture memorabilia and artifacts. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by a life-size Spider-Man statue standing off to the left behind store windows. Upon entering Harrison's, one can't help but feel overwhelmed by the amount of historical items lining the walls and shelves. It's safe to say that just about every corner, shelf, and row of Harrison's is occupied by something: Marvel comics superhero busts, Universal monster movie posters, CIB (complete in box) Star Wars and Star Trek action figures and playsets, Pokémon cuddle pillows. Each piece has its own history and story to tell.
